Youth & Young Adult Opportunities

Camp Restore has been blessed to have a rockstar team assembled for Youth & Young Adult Services. All those that work with the youth and young adult program are certified and have several years experience. We are especially equipped to work with youth and young adults that have been impacted by violence or trauma in our neighborhood. We strive to walk alongside people through life, being a space of healing, goals, and restoration of hope and a future!

Mentoring - Led by our street intervention partner, Phil Sample of RAHAM, who has a degree in psychology and decades of experience in gangology and mentoring, group mentoring is offered to challenge students to strive to dream, plan, and accomplish these dreams! A variety of speakers are brought in to share stories, learn entrepreneurship, and so much more. The goal is that students are making good decisions and have a roadmap to follow in accomplishing dreams.

Tutoring - Our Education Interventionist, Doris, a graduate of both Wayne State and Concordia, Portland, has decades of experience teaching students in a variety of settings including at the University of Michigan and the Men’s Academy in Detroit. She works with students to catch up to grade level as well as make a plan for graduation. We work with any student and specialise in helping students that currently have no path towards gradation.

Counseling - Counseling is offered in both group and individual setting by Dr. Washington, a licenced therapist with several years of experience working with trauma and resilience. We work towards the goal of healthy futures, strong social emotional skills, and good decision making.

Leadership & Lifeskills - Through-out all of this, we are working on leadership and lifeskills, teaching cooking, budgeting, cleaning, light construction, vocational soft skills and even a few extras such as 3D printing.

Third Saturday Service Day

The third Saturday of every month we have open service days. While we are open year round for incoming groups, Saturday is special because we choose projects that are on the waitlist or need regular attention. It is a great drop in day for individuals and groups to learn more about Camp Restore and our community, and serve others!

Youth in Action Weeks

These weeks are completely curated for you and your youth! We have speakers, a house band, service, learning, and fun already planned and ready to go. All you need to do is get to campus! Already signed up? Click here for more information on your week.

Bring a Group

Camp Restore is open year round for incoming groups of all ages and sizes. You can come for a few hours, a night, a weekend, or stay a week. We currently have 88 beds available and anticipate a total of 130 beds in the near future. We will house and feed your group and coordinate all service opportunities, tailored around your group’s interest. We can also lead small group time and service learning opportunities beyond your regular service.

Thursdays: Each Thursday we have Bible Study & Dinner with Pastor Tim LeClair. This is new so our group is still small. Sign up to bring dinner (and maybe even bring a couple people to play with the kids in the gym or do a Bible story with the kiddos!) We would love to have you join us for Bible Study after dinner as well.

Wednesdays: May - August Camp Restore has weekly BBQs and we would love to have you join us! Help set up, cook, clean up, and enjoy a great meal in between. During the school year, we have monthly community dinners on the second Wednesday of each month and would love for people to be bringing the meal and/or child care.

All Summer & various off season evenings: We have volunteers that eat at Camp daily over the summer and intermittently in the school year. This ranges from 10-130 people at a time and usually we have a few guests from our community as well. Please consider bringing meals for these groups!

Bring Dinner or Help with BBQs

Play with Kids!

Whether in the literacy program or during dinners, we are always looking for help with the kids ages 3-12. The kids LOVE to play in the gym or on the playground after eating at the dinners and we are always short of help. We have openings every Thursday all year, Wednesdays over the summer and at our monthly dinner.

Field Trips

Bring your students on a field trip! Classes come for 3-5 hours, take a tour, learn about our community, and serve. Camp Restore staff likes to meet with the students via Zoom if possible before the trip so the students and teachers are already familiar with the work we do and the community. This helps students be excited to meet the people they will work with and understand the impact of the work itself.

Chapel/School Program

We love to do chapel a little differently. Location dependent, our staff will meet with a class of students from your school. Our staff and a community member will talk about how we share God’s love, our community, the challenges, and take questions. Then we help that class write their own chapel Camp Restore, how we share God’s love with our community, and how your students can share God’s love in your community. Fair warning, usually the students love it and ask to visit Camp Restore afterwards!

Corporate Work Day

We love corporate teams! Your team can work on Camp Restore’s campus or go out into the community to work on parks and blight in our neighborhood. On campus, there are community gardens, blight removal, and three houses that are all under construction, as well as a children’s playground that needs to be started.

Tour & Lunch

Come visit! Have a tour of not just Camp Restore, but also around our neighborhood and the projects that our volunteers work on under the direction of community leaders. Follow that up with a nice lunch with CRD staff and community members.

Community Service Hours

We often have opportunities to do your community service hours at Camp Restore. Doing your hours here can help you get reconnected to the community and involved in the activities going on.
