Building Community Connections

Weekly BBQs & Winter dinners -

Join us for dinner! May-August every Wednesday at 6:00 rain or shine we have a community BBQ. In the school year, we have community dinners once a week on the second Wednesday of the month.

Radio Patrol - Radio Patrol has been operating since 2023. What is Radio Patrol? Radio Patrol is 'neighborhood watch on wheels’. The patrol acts as extra eyes and ears on the street, identifying unsafe situations, places that need to be cleaned up, and people that need extra help. Trained by both Detroit Police and soon Street Intervention Teams the patrol works to help the neighborhood be a safer place.

Request Volunteers - Camp Restore volunteers come from across the country to provide hands and feet for community led service projects. Most are blight removal, developing parks, working with children, gardening, and very limited construction.

Community Campus - Camp Restore and our neighbors have come together with the University of Detroit Mercy Collaborative Design Center to collaboratively create a block and a half campus plan. We are hoping to finish the Community Quad - the main entrance to Camp Restore - this spring and the Redeemer Cafe will open by then too!

Borrow Tools - Come and borrow a mower from Camp Restore. We will take a picture of your ID, have you sign an agreement, and help you load up the mower. Hopefully we will eventually be able to deliver mowers as well!

Volunteer
Bible Study & Dinner - Each Thursday 6:30 - 8:00 we have dinner followed by Bible Study led by Pastor Tim. Come join us!

Tree Days - English Gardens donates trees, bushes, and bulbs to us at the end of the season! We generally pick up the trees just a couple days before Christmas and work diligently to keep them alive until they can be planted or given out to our community! Come help pick up trees when we get the call or sign up to be the first to hear about the March Tree Giveaway. All we ask is that you send us pictures of your gardens or yards with English Gardens trees so we can properly thank English Gardens!

Community Calendar - Check back here to see all the events going on in our community! Want your event on the calendar? Get it to us by the first of the month and we will add it. We do our best to update the calendar monthly.

Community Partners - All we do is a community effort, both large and small. We are connecting and building community here in our neighborhood as well as growing our community connections and Camp Restore Family to include churches, individuals, corporations, foundations and more from across the United States.

Third Saturday Service Day

The third Saturday of every month we have open service days. While we are open year round for incoming groups, Saturday is special because we choose projects that are on the waitlist or need regular attention. It is a great drop in day for individuals and groups to learn more about Camp Restore and our community, and serve others!

Youth in Action Weeks

These weeks are completely curated for you and your youth! We have speakers, a house band, service, learning, and fun already planned and ready to go. All you need to do is get to campus! Already signed up? Click here for more information on your week.

Bring a Group

Camp Restore is open year round for incoming groups of all ages and sizes. You can come for a few hours, a night, a weekend, or stay a week. We currently have 88 beds available and anticipate a total of 130 beds in the near future. We will house and feed your group and coordinate all service opportunities, tailored around your group’s interest. We can also lead small group time and service learning opportunities beyond your regular service.

Thursdays: Each Thursday we have Bible Study & Dinner with Pastor Tim LeClair. This is new so our group is still small. Sign up to bring dinner (and maybe even bring a couple people to play with the kids in the gym or do a Bible story with the kiddos!) We would love to have you join us for Bible Study after dinner as well.

Wednesdays: May - August Camp Restore has weekly BBQs and we would love to have you join us! Help set up, cook, clean up, and enjoy a great meal in between. During the school year, we have monthly community dinners on the second Wednesday of each month and would love for people to be bringing the meal and/or child care.

All Summer & various off season evenings: We have volunteers that eat at Camp daily over the summer and intermittently in the school year. This ranges from 10-130 people at a time and usually we have a few guests from our community as well. Please consider bringing meals for these groups!

Bring Dinner or Help with BBQs

Play with Kids!

Whether in the literacy program or during dinners, we are always looking for help with the kids ages 3-12. The kids LOVE to play in the gym or on the playground after eating at the dinners and we are always short of help. We have openings every Thursday all year, Wednesdays over the summer and at our monthly dinner.

Field Trips

Bring your students on a field trip! Classes come for 3-5 hours, take a tour, learn about our community, and serve. Camp Restore staff likes to meet with the students via Zoom if possible before the trip so the students and teachers are already familiar with the work we do and the community. This helps students be excited to meet the people they will work with and understand the impact of the work itself.

Chapel/School Program

We love to do chapel a little differently. Location dependent, our staff will meet with a class of students from your school. Our staff and a community member will talk about how we share God’s love, our community, the challenges, and take questions. Then we help that class write their own chapel Camp Restore, how we share God’s love with our community, and how your students can share God’s love in your community. Fair warning, usually the students love it and ask to visit Camp Restore afterwards!

Corporate Work Day

We love corporate teams! Your team can work on Camp Restore’s campus or go out into the community to work on parks and blight in our neighborhood. On campus, there are community gardens, blight removal, and three houses that are all under construction, as well as a children’s playground that needs to be started.

Tour & Lunch

Come visit! Have a tour of not just Camp Restore, but also around our neighborhood and the projects that our volunteers work on under the direction of community leaders. Follow that up with a nice lunch with CRD staff and community members.

Community Service Hours

We often have opportunities to do your community service hours at Camp Restore. Doing your hours here can help you get reconnected to the community and involved in the activities going on.
