Making Room for the King: A Child’s Simple Faith

In a season that can so easily become crowded with the noise of commercialism, your support ensures that Christ remains the center of Christmas. Pastor Jeff, who has been serving on a regular basis from Rockpointe, had the opportunity to share the Christmas story with a child and came away with a humbling reminder.

"I was helping a first grader with a "Christmas Code" activity. I told her that when she finished, we would share the true Christmas story together using the wooden nativity scene she had colored earlier that day.

When the craft was done, we sat together and moved the wooden pieces as we spoke about the birth of Jesus. Afterward, Il turned her activity page over and began to draw a house. Then, she took the tiny wooden baby Jesus from the nativity and carefully outlined Him right inside the house she had drawn.

I asked her whose house it was, and she smiled and said it was her house. When I asked if Jesus was going to sleep there, she didn't hesitate for a second. "Yes," she said, "but Jesus could sleep in my bed and I would sleep on the floor." At just six or seven years old, her first instinct was to give up her own comfort so that Jesus would have the very best place to rest. It was a beautiful, humbling reminder of the 'child-like faith' we are all called to have as we celebrate His birth."

The children at Camp Restore aren't just hearing a holiday story; these precious children are learning to recognize the gift of the Savior and discovering what it means to truly make room for Him in their hearts. You are providing the foundation for these moments of deep, spiritual transformation.

This is the impact of your generosity: a child who is so moved by the love of Christ that she is ready to give Him her very best.
