Camp Restore Detroit

Summer Is Over. The Fight Is Far from It.

52 Projects. 2 Weeks of VBS. The end of the summer approached much more quickly than we anticipated. The summer was filled with 52 new projects led by community members both familiar and newly introduced as well as two weeks of VBS at East Bethlehem.  The goal of building relationships hasn’t changed, and as a result we’ve been blessed with kindness from our community exceeding our biggest expectations, including donations from block clubs and associations throughout our corner of Detroit.

One of the best ways we measure impact is through the words of those we serve:

“Thank you for coming out and being a blessing to LAKEPOINTE BLOCK CLUB. We appreciate you all so much. We are truly grateful to have a group like you all.”

“Great Communities Now and I personally, cannot express enough the community benefit Camp Restore and your volunteers bring to our neighborhoods.”

844 Days of Service. Projects are full of opportunities to work with volunteers from across the country, places such as Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, Missouri, Louisiana, and of course within Michigan. We have been blessed abundantly by the outstanding hard work and dedication our campers bring and the intention to glorify the Lord through service in our corner of the city! These groups worked on a variety of community projects such as landscaping, working in community homes, assisting with maintaining our recently established CTEC Jr. house, putting up drywall and shoveling out old concrete at the red house, and participating in beautification projects throughout the neighborhood. By early August, we had served a collective 844 days!

Your support, paired with the dedication, planning, and leadership of community leaders and hearts of CRD volunteers made all this possible!

52 Projects + 2 Weeks of VBS = Countless people impacted.

Slow Down? Nope! Now that summer is over, we usually slow down our operations, and focus on the other tasks we weren’t able to give our full attention in the summer, due to prioritizing our campers. Not so much this year! While we don’t have as many groups in the “off-season”, with the literacy program, new cooking classes, monthly community dinners, radio patrol, and an uptick in field trips, we have been as busy as ever…What a blessing!

With so much we get to be part of, we definitely have our work cut out for us! This off season certainly doesn’t mean the end of volunteer opportunities, either. We take groups of volunteers year-round, whether from churches, businesses, educational institutions or elsewhere, so everyone can come to our community and work alongside the beautiful souls that reside here to change our neighborhoods for the better!

The fight for a brighter future is far from over.  Click here, give now.
