    We Have Interns!!

We are very excited to have the opportunity to provide internships to four high school seniors from Detroit, through Urban Alliance. These young men have already been working hard around Camp Restore and our community, and will be with us through the summer as well. Keep an eye out to meet each of them in future newsletters!

A Tree Day made possible by English Gardens

At the end of each season, English Gardens has been gifting us their surplus stock to be used by Camp Restore and our community. Each spring we hold a Tree Day, so neighbors have the opportunity to come pick up items to revitalize their block with these trees, shrubs, rose bushes, fruit bushes, tulip bulbs, and more. This year may have been the largest yet that we've had the privilege of hosting. With three Tree Days in the month of March, everyone who came out had the opportunity to share the information with their friends and neighbors.

We love being able to host this event as it gives us the chance to reconnect with our neighbors after the long cold winter. This year we were also able to meet some new friends and community members. Tree Days also give us the unique advantage of bringing community members and local organizations together, introducing people who may not have had the chance to meet yet and facilitating new connections.

Be on the lookout for some after photos, as we've asked the community associations, block clubs, and community members who receive plans to share pictures with us of everything growing and blooming. Thank you, English Gardens for being a part of restoring hope and revitalizing our community!

    University of Michigan- Alternative Breaks

The alternative breaks group from University of Michigan in Dearborn spent the majority of their spring break serving our community for the second year in a row. We were so grateful to be able to once again partner with the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, continuing to deliver supplies to those affected by the floods in south-west Detroit. This amazing group of volunteers was also able to work with one of our friends with the Regent Park Community Associations to start a mapping project they are working on for their neighborhood. As the group was packing up to leave at the end of the week they were waving goodbye and already making plans to return next year.

    The Redeemer Cafe Has Siding!

Have you seen the pictures all over our Facebook? We are one step closer to a community cafe and connections center! The Redeemer Cafe has siding! We are beyond blessed by the crew at Kroll Construction who spent most of the month of March putting up this beautiful blue siding that was gifted to us by Alside Vinyl Siding. The house looks absolutely amazing, and it's now one step closer to being complete. Again, we can't thank Kroll Construction and Alside siding company enough for this amazing gift! And thank you to everyone who has helped make Redeemer Cafe a reality and for everyone who will be helping us complete this community focused place of gathering.

    The Community Quad is Underway

Our Garden of Eatin’ is getting an update! The graveled paths were unsafe and uncomfortable for some members of our community. We are now working on installing a path that is safe for everyone. Be on the lookout as this project progresses.
